How to Make Your Summer Dresses Still Work When the Weather Gets Cold

Hey Cutie! Can you believe it’s already fall? The weather’s getting colder and the holidays are inching closer and closer everyday. There’s nothing but joy in the air… but I bet there’s one question on your mind. How do I still wear my favorite dresses in the fall? Well don’t worry girl, I got you.

There’s so many things that you can do to stay warm and still look cute in a dress during the colder months. Here are some ideas on how to spice up your dresses when the weather gets colder:

  1. Tights. Tights are a necessity in cold weather. Fleece lined tights add warmth, and patterned sheer tights can dress up almost any outfit. You might’ve run into this problem before, though: your legs are still freezing even with your patterned tights on!

Well here’s your solution: buy some skin toned fleece lined tights and wear them under your patterned tights! You won’t even be able to tell you’re wearing the fleece lined tights, and you’ll stay warm and trendy all day. What more could you ask for?
  2. Boots. It’s boots season again, and I don’t know about you, but I’m excited. From knee high boots to booties, boots are the best shoes to pair with dresses in the fall. They add that extra little oomf that’s necessary to keep our confidence up in the winter months.
  3. Turtlenecks. Turtlenecks add an extra detail to your fit that no other article of clothing can quite compare to. When in doubt, just throw on a white turtleneck under your dress.
  4. Sweaters & Jackets. There’s so many cute different kinds of sweaters and jackets that can change up your dress in different ways.

    • Leather jackets are a staple piece that should be in everyone’s wardrobe. If you don’t have one already, I would definitely recommend investing in one, and it will last you for years to come, trust me.
    • Cardigans are simple yet still super cute. They’re a great layering tool and can just add a little something when you feel as if your outfit is lacking.
    • Layering a sweater on top of one of your favorite dresses is a great way to amplify your wardrobe without even having to go shopping. It makes it seem like a whole new look!
    • And of course, a nice coat is one of the best ways to stay warm in colder weather. They’re easy to grab on your way out the door, and they can almost just become an outfit of their own.
  5. Accessories. Add a scarf, wear a beanie, throw on some gloves, accessories are always a great way to add to an outfit.
